To get highlighter out of clothes, blot the stain with a napkin, rub it with laundry detergent, wet it with rubbing alcohol, soak it in salt water and launder it according to the directions on the care label. This three-hour process requires napkins, laundry detergent, a sponge, rubbing alcohol and a bucket.
- Blot the stain
Blot the stain with a white paper napkin.
- Rub the stain with laundry detergent
Place a dollop of laundry detergent on the stain, and rub it into the fabric with your fingers. Rinse the stained area, apply more laundry detergent and rub the fabric again. Rinse with cool water.
- Apply rubbing alcohol
Place the garment on a folded white towel, and slowly pour rubbing alcohol over the stain. Press on the stain with another white towel. Pour more alcohol through the stained fabric, and blot it again. Repeat this several more times.
- Soak the garment in salt water
Fill a bucket with water, and add 1/4 cup salt. Put the garment fabric in the bucket, and leave it there for two hours.
- Launder the garment
Remove the garment from the bucket, and put it in your washing machine. Wash and dry it according to the directions on its care label.
