To get hair dye out of a carpet, use a solution of vinegar, liquid dish-washing detergent and warm water. Dab the stain with the mixture, and apply cold water. Absorb the stain with rubbing alcohol, and blot with a dry cloth. Use an ammonia solution if the stain remains.
- Mix the solution, and dab it on the stain
Combine 1 tablespoon of liquid dish-washing detergent and 1 tablespoon of vinegar with 2 cups of warm water. Soak a cloth in the solution, and press it on the stain. Alternate between dabbing the stain with the solution and blotting the stain with a dry cloth until the stain is gone.
- Sponge up the liquid, and apply rubbing alcohol
Dampen a sponge in cold water, and dab it on the stain to remove the excess liquid. Once most of the liquid is absorbed, press rubbing alcohol onto the stain until the stain is removed. Sponge once more with cold water, and blot with a dry cloth.
- Use dish detergent and ammonia
If the stain is still on the carpet, mix 1 teaspoon liquid dish washing detergent and 1 tablespoon ammonia with 2 cups warm water. Sponge the solution on the stain, and leave it for 30 minutes. Blot every five minutes with more solution. Dab with cold water and blot dry.
