What Is a Good Price for Concrete?

The price for ready-mix concrete, on average as of 2015, is $93 per cubic yard. However, there are many factors that contribute to the final price, such as grading, subbase preparation, concrete forms and reinforcement.

A project involving concrete requires many different components. The first, grading, costs $50 to $70 on average and varies depending on how much dirt needs to be moved. The subbase, meaning the gravel or sand delivered to the job site, usually costs between $12 and $18 per cubic yard. Installing concrete forms and finishing is backbreaking work and therefore involves expensive labor, on top of the $1.50 to $2 per square foot of concrete forms. The final expense in a concrete project is reinforcement, to stop concrete from cracking; this costs 15 to 30 cents per square foot.
