Good lawn grub control products include Bayer Advanced 40 ounce Complete Insect Killer, Scotts GrubEx1 and Spectracide Triazicide Insect Killer for Lawns. All of these work on grubs, but also kill other lawn pests as well, according to Lowes.com, Scotts.com and HomeDepot.com.
Bayer Advanced 40 ounce Complete Insect Killer is a liquid concentrate that requires being mixed with water before applying to the lawn. Some insecticides will wash away before becoming effective, but the Bayer Advance is waterproof after an hour, according to Lowes.com. This product should be kept away from fruit and vegetable plants because it will kill them. Along with grubs, this product will kill fleas, spiders, ticks and ants.
Scotts GrubEx1 is made to work in a yard spreader instead of water. It works to kill several types of grubs, including larvae stages of other bugs such as Japanese beetles. Apply in spring or early summer for the best results. The product will work up to four months. It is not recommended for waterlogged areas.
Spectracide Triazicide is made to kill approximately 100 different insects both on the surface of the yard and in the ground below. It is a granular product that is meant to be applied using a rotary or broadcast spreader for the yard. It is not safe for edible plants, but will not harm animals if they get into it.
