A good homemade deer repellent is a spray made out of hot sauce, water, and dish soap. This red pepper spray makes plants much less appealing to deer and other pests.
A good deer spray can be made by combining 4 tablespoons of very spicy hot pepper sauce, 1 quart water, and 1 teaspoon dish soap in a spray bottle. The capsaicin in the hot sauce irritates deer and other pests, encouraging them to avoid the sprayed vegetation. This spray should be sprayed weekly on the plants an individual wishes to protect from deer. Additional homemade sprays to deter deer include deer spray made from rotten egg and water or deer spray made from soap and water.
