Sure Seal, TopKote and UGL Drylok are some good brands of oil-based driveway sealants. However, water-based driveway sealers are much more commonly used products in consumer-grade applications. Oil-based driveway sealers are much more environmentally friendly because they release far fewer volatile organic compounds and generate less odor and skin irritation.
Oil-based sealers are commonly available at home improvement stores and industrial supply houses, including Lowe's, Global Industrial and Zoro.com. However, most retail driveway sealants sold are water-based emulsions mixed with clay fillers, coal tar, latex or other polymers. Oil-based driveway sealers do not last as long and require more frequent application. Water-based sealers typically last longer and are better at resisting oil and gas stains.
