As of March 2015, GE Appliance's newest washing machine is its Wi-Fi-enabled high-efficiency, top-loading model. The company's high-efficiency, front-loading model, RightHeight design front loader, and Unitized Spacemaker models are the latest washers in its front-loading and space-saving categories.
GE Appliance's newest washer adds smartphone control to the company's older top load model. The My Washer app stores custom cycle presets on the cloud, sends notifications when a load is ready to transfer to the dryer, and displays cycle status. My Washer also shows the status of the SmartDispense tanks, a feature enabling pre-fill of detergent and fabric softeners.
The redesigned washer accommodates 2015 energy standards, with a 40 percent increase in capacity, and a time-saver option that cuts cycle time by 10 percent. It includes a larger opening for improved ergonomics. Problems that led to a product recall of older models in 2014 due to fire and shock hazards have been resolved in the new design.
GE Appliances' newest front-loading washers include integrated risers to raise the height of the opening by 7 inches, minimizing the need for bending and twisting while loading and unloading the machine. In the Unitized Spacemaker, the washer and dryer are combined into a single, stacked unit. With a 24-inch-wide by 76-inch-tall and 30-inch-deep profile, the Spacemaker is designed to fit into smaller residences.
