Manufacturers of gas-powered lawn dethatchers, or turf rakes, include Classen, Bluebird and Billy Goat. The range includes four-wheeled walk-behind and hydro-drive models with adjustable-height folding handles, powered by Honda, Vanguard or Briggs engines.
Classen's walk-behind and hydro-drive turf rakes offer a range of optional accessories, such as vertical slicer blades that cut through surface root grasses and aerate grasses growing on sandy soil, and spring tines for lighter thatch control. The Classen walk-behind model also has an optional catcher bag to collect the thatch. Bluebird's power rakes come in three different sizes offering working widths of 18, 22 or 38 inches. Accessories for the Billy Goat power rake dethatcher include a vertislicing wheel and a conversion kit that turns the machine into an overseeder.
