What Is a Garage Heater?

A garage heater is a heating solution for the garage or a workshop to allow work to be done even during cold weather. Several types of garage heaters are available, including a gas-fired unit that is mounted on the ceiling and heats up the space using forced air movements.

Another option for a garage heater is an infrared type. While this model warms up the person working, as well as the floor, tools are not heated. The energy efficiency of both types of garage heaters are roughly comparable but, as of 2015, the infrared heater typically costs around twice as much as a forced-air heater.
