A furniture warehouse is a large retail store that sells furniture such as couches, tables, chairs, beds and mattresses. The store is located in a large, open warehouse that has a section for displays as well as a storage and shipping section. Some of the most popular furniture warehouses in the United States are American Furniture Warehouse and Steinhafels Furniture.
Furniture warehouses are a popular way for individuals to see, test out and purchase furniture. Many furniture warehouses have a model floor that consists of a large number of different room setups, decor, themes and colors. Shoppers are able to look through the furniture and room models and determine how the furniture will look in the context of a full room. Similarly, the floor models of the furniture are free to be sat on and used to help the shopper determine if it should be bought. Salespeople walk around to help shoppers find items or to answer specific questions.
Other than the model floor that displays all of the furniture, furniture warehouses typically also consist of large storage and shipping areas. Many warehouses, such as United Furniture Warehouse, offer shipping and installation of large furniture that was bought on the model floor. If the purchased furniture is too big to simply fit in a car, the warehouse loads up the packaged furniture into a shipping truck to transport and install the furniture into the buyer's residence.
