The most common fruits that grow from palm trees are coconuts and dates. Other fruits from palm trees include the acai berry, jubaea, peach palm fruit and betel nut.
The coconut palm has coconuts that hang below the fronds. These will eventually fall to the ground when ripe. The hard outer shell of a coconut can be stripped away with a sharp wedge or hammer.
Date palm trees are plentiful and popular. When the dates get ripe in the fall, big nets are wrapped around the bunches of fruit to keep them together and on the tree before harvest. Medjool dates are the most popular type of date in the United States.
