The very first American Signature Furniture store opened in Nashville, Tennessee in 2003. The store is a subsidiary of the same parent company as Value City Furniture and American Signature, American Signature Inc.
American Signature Furniture has been around in various forms since the early 1900s when the company got its beginnings in Columbus, Ohio. Founder E.L. Schottenstein began the furniture company out of the basement of his clothing department store. Schottenstein's son Alvin eventually took over the furniture business, which would come to be known as Value City Furniture. The two companies became one when American Signature, Inc. became the parent company of both Value City Furniture and American Signature in the early 2000s.
