Where Was the First RC Willey Furniture Based?

The first RC Willey Home Furnishing retail store opened in Syracuse, Utah, in 1950. As of 2015, the chain has expanded throughout Utah and into neighboring states, such as Nevada, California and Idaho. The company is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, with distribution centers in Utah, Nevada and California.

Rufus Call Willey began his business selling Hotpoint appliances door-to-door in Syracuse before establishing a retail location. Offering trial periods and payment plans to customers trying out new electronic appliances, Willey was able to grow his business and invest in a storefront. The store now specializes in home furnishings, appliances and electronics. Berkshire Hathaway acquired the chain in 1995, though the chain continues to remain family operated.
