Electric heaters are more expensive than propane heaters to operate, according to TheFrugalLife.com and the Burke Energy website. Both The Fugal Life and Burke Energy also assert that propane is highly safe, and provides more warmth than electric heating systems.
A home can be heated with propane for less than half the cost of heating with an electric heating system, and furnaces fueled by propane last five to 10 years longer than electric heat pumps. Propane gas furnaces heat air to between 130 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit, and operate in short intervals to reduce fuel costs.
Propane can be stored very safely in outdoor tanks, and propane gas is non-toxic and requires extremely high temperatures to ignite, states Burke Energy.
