To clean grease, apply baking soda to a damp sponge or rag, and wipe the grease with it. Then clean the area with a clean, damp rag to remove any excess baking soda.
Another effective way to clean kitchen grease is to apply undiluted vinegar to the grease, let it sit for five minutes, and then wipe it clean with a dishtowel.
For grease that's harder to clean, apply vegetable oil to the grease spots to loosen the grease, and then follow that by cleaning with vinegar or baking soda.
Some other options are dish soap and water, or try one part salt to four parts of rubbing alcohol when cleaning fabric surfaces that cannot be washed. Sprinkle flour on a fresh grease spill to absorb excess grease before sweeping it up.
For stubborn grease stains, try phosphate free trisodium phosphate, a heavy-duty cleaner found at some hardware stores. This product effectively removes grease stains without the toxic effects of heavy cleaners.
