As of 2015, the ECHO brand of chain saws is manufactured by ECHO Incorporated, which is the largest subsidiary of Yamabiko Corporation, a Japanese power tool manufacturer. ECHO Incorporated began in 1972 as Kioritz Corporation of America, the North American subsidiary of the Kioritz Corporation.
In 2008, Kioritz merged with another Japanese company, Shindaiwa Corporation, to form Yamabiko Corporation. Most ECHO chainsaws sold in North America are built at the company's manufacturing facility in Lake Zurich, Illinois, using both foreign and domestically produced parts. The Yamabiko Corporation also has two factories in Japan and one in Shenzhen, China, which produce products under both the ECHO and Shindaiwa brand names.
