One way to cook pork loin in a crock pot is to collect a 4-pound pork loin, small onion and butter. Also gather rubbed sage, dried parsley, black pepper, salt, minced garlic and oregano for seasoning.
Begin by cutting the pork loin in half and placing it in the crock pot with 1 cup of water, and then spread 1/4 cup of butter over the pork loin. In a bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of sage, 2 tablespoons of dried parsley flakes, 2 teaspoons of black pepper and a teaspoon of minced garlic. In addition, add a teaspoon of dried oregano and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Mix it all together and sprinkle over the meat.
Thinly slice a small onion and place it over the pork loin. Cover the crock pot and cook on low for eight to 10 hours, or until the meat becomes tender. If desired, make a gravy with the cooking juices by stirring in a teaspoon of browning sauce. Allow the meat to sit for 10 minutes once removed from the crock pot, then slice for serving.
This recipe serves 12 people and is approximately 227 calories per 4-ounce serving, including 2 tablespoons of gravy. If interested in pairing this meal with wine, consider a red, light-bodied wine, such as Pinot Noir.
