Loggers use a wide variety of tools to complete logging jobs. They range from simple hand tools such as axes and mauls to more complex equipment such as chainsaws, log splitters and heavy machinery.
Felling and cutting trees requires a host of tools, including hooks, saws, chains, wedges, axes, mauls, chainsaws, log splitters and draw shave debarking tools. Saws and axes allow loggers to cut the wood, debarking tools remove the bark from the trees, wedges are used to angle the lean of the tree being logged, and chains and hooks are used to move the logs. Loggers also use heavy equipment such as backhoes and loaders to transport the trees that have been logged.
