A stand blender is an electric kitchen appliance with blades and a long narrow goblet. The design of this appliance is best for making meals with a liquid texture such as smoothies, milkshakes, cake and pancake batter, or baby food. A handheld version known as an immersion or stick blender, which is placed into a bowl of ingredients, accomplishes the same tasks. Some prefer the immersion blender for the convenience of a quicker and easier cleanup.
A food processor is also an electric kitchen appliance but has a wider bowl and sharper blades than a blender. It is capable of chopping, slicing or pureeing foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts and meat, mixing together stuffing, and grating breadcrumbs or cheese. It can also be used to knead bread dough. Most food processors require additional attachments to accomplish tasks other than chopping or mixing.
Additionally, appliances exist that are combinations of blenders and food processors. Generally, these appliances have detachable bowls and other accessories and can accomplish all tasks done by blenders and food processors using just one machine.Learn more about Appliances
