What Is Covered Under a Goodman Furnace Warranty?

Every Goodman furnace is protected by a specific limited warranty on all functional parts, but the warranty does vary from model to model and also depending on whether the unit has been registered. Full warranty details are available on the Goodman website under each model's Product Warranty section.

Many models of Goodman gas furnaces, such as the GMVM97, GME8 and GMSS96, come with a lifetime limited warranty on the unit's heat exchanger. This warranty states that Goodman is obligated to provide a replacement heat exchanger if it should ever fail due to materials or workmanship. Many units also come with a 10-year limited unit replacement warranty on the heat exchanger, which states that Goodman must replace the entire furnace if the heat exchanger fails in the first 10 years. Most units also come with a 10-year limited parts warranty as well.

While these warranties require Goodman to provide replacement parts, they do not require the company to cover the cost of labor associated with fixing the problem. The only exception is the 10-year limited unit replacement warranty, which covers the cost of installing the replacement furnace.

It is necessary that the customer registers their new furnace online within 60 days of installation in order to qualify for the full warranties. If the customer does not register the product, the lifetime heat exchanger warranty changes to a 20-year warranty, while the 10-year warranties are cut back to only 5 years.
