Frigidaire manufactures its own line of appliances, except for its HVAC products, which are manufactured by Nordyne, and its garbage disposals and hot water dispensers, which are manufactured by In-Sink-Erator, according to Appliance411. Frigidaire has been owned by Electrolux since 1986.
Frigidaire was founded by Alfred Mellowes as the Guardian Frigerator Company in 1916. In 1918, General Motors bought this company and changed its name to Frigidaire, and it operated first as a subsidiary of Delco-Light and then as an independent division. In 1979, Frigidaire was purchased by White Consolidated Industries, which was itself acquired by AB Electrolux of Sweden in 1986.
