Inglis appliances are manufactured by Whirlpool Canada. Inglis Limited changed its name to Whirlpool Canada in 2001, but the company continues to produce appliances under the Inglis name.
The Inglis company has existed in one form or another since 1859, when John Inglis moved from the United Kingdom to Guelph, Ontario, to manufacture machinery for mills. In 1946, the Inglis organization began manufacturing consumer products, including home laundry appliances, following negotiations with the company that would eventual be called Whirlpool. Inglis' head office was later relocated to Toronto then to Mississauga, Ontario, in 1981, and in 1987 Whirlpool took over majority ownership.
