Consumers Energy, NVEnergy and Duke Energy are three companies that pick up old refrigerators for recycling. All three companies pay a certain amount as a rebate for the surrendered old unit.
Common to these companies is the four-step approach that is followed in the removal process. The company first schedules the cleaned up unit for pick up, then sends a partner courier to remove it. The company then recycles the unit and salvages whatever parts are still usable. Once all three steps are completed, the company gives the rebate to the owner, either via check or actual pick-up of cash payment.
