Prairie Nursery, White Flower Farm and Chief River Nursery offer plant catalogs. Customers can register online to receive a free catalog in the mail or shop through each company's website.
Prairie Nursery's plant catalog offers plants and seeds native to North America. One example is White Doll's Eyes, an herbaceous perennial that grows in rich, humus soils in woodland gardens. The Maidenhair fern grows in the eastern half of the continent and is popular for its foliage. The nursery sells big bluestem grass in 3-inch pots or in bags of seed. Adaptable to all soil types, this grass is the native prairie grass of the great plains.
White Flower Farm provides plants for traditional ornamental gardens. The catalog features 84 Amaryllis varieties in all shades of white, red and pink. Customers can choose from a full offering of tulip and daffodil bulbs. The nursery also sells 21 peony varieties, including the yellow blooming Bartzella hybrid variety. Edible plants for the garden are also available, including heirloom tomatoes, Meyer lemons and kitchen herbs.
The Chief River Nursery catalog features bare root evergreen, hardwood and fruit trees. The nursery offers several unique trees unavailable at retail nurseries, such as the American chestnut, common persimmon and butternut. The nursery also sells bare root shrubs such as highbush cranberry, red osier dogwood and ninebark.
