By far, the most common complaint about GE profile ranges is the knobs not locking. Many customers bring up safety concerns, especially with the gas ranges, as this can result in gas leading in the home. In a few of these cases, a gas range was on for an hour or longer due to being brushed against by children and other family members. The problem of the knobs not locking tends to only happen to gas ranges.
The control surfaces also tend to short out for many customers. Several customer bought a GE Profile range and owned it for a short amount of time before the surfaces started to malfunction. One customer pointed out that spilling liquid on the range may short out the control surfaces, as they are not properly sealed.
