Full Answer

  1. Prepare the sink

Wash out the sink and fill it with cool or lukewarm water. Never use hot water to clean a wool garment, as this can cause it to shrink. Add any detergent that is labeled safe for wool. Baby shampoo or dish detergent can also be used.

  2. Wash the jacket

Submerge the jacket in the solution and squeeze it gently until it is saturated. Allow the jacket to soak for 5 minutes. Repeat this step if the garment is heavily soiled.

  3. Rinse the jacket

Drain the soapy water and refill the sink with clean water. To avoid shrinkage, make sure the clean water is the same temperature as the soapy water. Place the jacket in the water and gently squeeze it so the water moves through every part.

  4. Dry the jacket

Very gently squeeze some of the water out of the jacket. Never wring wool as this causes it to become misshapen. Lay the jacket flat in the exact shape it should take. Allow two to three days for complete drying.
