To clean a stainless steel grill, you can use a commercial brand grill cleaner, or you can make a simple degreasing solution with dishwashing detergent and hot water. Make sure to avoid using abrasives or steel wool on the grill. Keeping your grill clean will help to prevent corrosion and rust from forming, which in turn will extend the life of the grill.Continue Reading
You need a bucket, water, non-abrasive sponges or rags and a good degreasing detergent.
Add ? cup of dishwashing liquid to the bucket of hot water. Mix well.
Apply it to the outside of the grill, scrubbing any stains with the sponge. Look closely at the metal to discover its grain. Scrub in the same direction as the grain. Use a garden hose to rinse away the soap and dissolved grease before it settles elsewhere.
The inside of your grill is not all made of stainless steel. Use the solution to scrub the grids that hold the food. It is sometimes easier to remove these grids and wash them in the sink. Once you scrub them, rinse them clear of all soap.
If your grill has heat shields, use the solution to wash away grease buildup and charred food spills. Rinse with the hose.
Use a towel to dry any stainless steel parts. Do not allow water to dry on the metal. Keep the lid raised to allow the inside of the grill to dry before attempting to light it.
