To clean an oven with baking soda, spread the baking soda over the dirt, dampen the baking soda with water, allow the soda to loosen the dirt before scraping it off and rinsing the oven. Blotting the oven dry completes this process.
First, unplug the oven to avoid a possible electric shock, and check the oven to ensure that it is cool. Scrape away any loose food particles with a wired scrubber, and generously sprinkle a layer of baking soda over the bottom of the oven, covering all the burnt spots. Fill a spray bottle with water, and spray the water over the sprinkled baking soda to a point of dampness, taking care not to saturate the baking soda. Refill the bottle as needed, and continue spraying until the whole powder becomes damp. Allow the baking soda to loosen the stubborn food particles for a few hours, and spray the baking soda repeatedly as needed with water to maintain its dampness.
Once the particles are loose, use a wired scrubber to scrape away the baking soda and loosened food residue from the oven. Rinse off the remnants with a cloth and warm water. Repeat the rinsing as needed until the oven is sufficiently clean, and dry the oven by wiping it with a clean, dry cloth. Finally, plug in the oven back in again.
