Most cushion fabric can be safely washed with warm, soapy water. Add 1/4 cup liquid dish detergent to 1 gallon of warm water, and wash the items by hand. Rinse the cushions with clean water, and do not use water over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, as this can damage the material. If the cushion cover is removable, remove the cover, and wash it on the gentle cycle with a small amount of laundry detergent.
If stains are present after washing the cushion, mix 1 teaspoon of bleach in 1 cup of water, and apply a small amount of the mixture to a hidden seam to determine whether the fabric is colorfast. If the material does not change in color, and apply a small amount of the mixture to stained areas of the cushion. Wash as recommended after treating the stains.
Allow the cushions to air dry in a sunny location after washing. Removable fabric covers should be replaced before the fabric dries to stretch the fabric into shape.
