  1. Boil water and vinegar in the pot

Pour water into the pot until there is a layer that covers the entire bottom of the pot. Add in 1 cup of vinegar, and turn the heat on underneath the pot. Wait until the water and vinegar begin to boil before continuing.

  2. Empty and scour the pan

Turn the heat off underneath the pot. Add 2 tablespoons of baking soda, and wait for the hot water and vinegar to react with the baking soda. After the vinegar and baking soda fizzes out, empty the contents of the pan and scour with the scourer normally.

  3. Add more baking soda if necessary

Examine your pot. If scouring the burnt pot failed to remove all of the burns, you may need to add a little more water and baking soda so that a paste is formed. Spread this paste over the severe burns and wait for several minutes. Then, return to scouring as before. The burns should be easier to remove.
