Sears PartsDirect, Part Select and RepairClinic.com sell replacement washer lid switches for Kenmore washers. RepairClinic.com also hosts a video detailing how to replace the washing machine lid switch assembly.
If a washing machine fills but doesn't agitate or spin, the lid switch may be defective. This can be verified by pressing and releasing the switch. If it doesn't click every time, it may need to be replaced. A worn or loose belt or a malfunctioning motor may also cause a washer to stop spinning and agitating. If a washer agitates but does not spin, the washer may be unbalanced. This happens when the laundry is not evenly distributed or the feet on the washer are uneven.
