Canopy tops, curtains, comforters and dust ruffles are four fundamental canopy bed accessories. For consistency, many canopy beds styles use similar materials and weights for each accessory.
Canopy tops either consist of hook supports on a ceiling or a constructed frame. Constructed frames are traditionally flat or arched, and generally require heavy fabric for structure. Canopy tops attached directly to the ceiling, do not need the extra weight and can support a wide variety of fabrics and nets. Canopy curtains, which encase the bed on all sides, may be used for aesthetics or to keep the bed warm in cold weather. The comforter and dust ruffle on a canopy bed typically coordinates with the draping style and fabric of the bed’s canopy.
