To remove wrinkles from a satin dress, wash the dress in cold water with a 1/2 cup of mild distilled vinegar, tumble dry on low heat, and smooth any remaining wrinkles with a pressing cloth and steam iron. Store the dress in a non-crowded closet.
- Place the dress in the washer
Carefully place the satin dress in an empty washing machine.
- Add vinegar
Add 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar to the washing tub. Do not add detergent to the washer.
- Wash the dress
Select the delicate cycle, and wash with cold water.
- Dry the dress
After the wash cycle is complete, tumble dry the dress on low to no heat. Do not overly dry the garment, as this may damage delicate satin fibers.
- Use a pressing cloth
Locate a cotton canvas pressing cloth, which transfers heat to smooth wrinkles without damaging delicate satin fibers.
- Iron the dress
Place the pressing cloth between the dress and iron. With a steam iron, gently smooth out remaining wrinkles and creases. Do not apply excess pressure as it may harm delicate fibers.
- Hang the dress
After removing the wrinkles, hang the dress in your closet away from other clothes. Do not squish it in an over-crowded closet or fold in a drawer.
