You can purchase a large selection of sports and outdoor equipment at local retail stores such as Field and Stream, or online at websites such as eBay.com and Amazon.com. Field and Stream stores are owned by Dick's Sporting Goods, Inc.
Richard Stack founded Dick's Sporting Goods, or "Dick's," in 1948. The first store was a fishing supply store in Birmingham, New York, funded by a loan of $300 from Richard's mother. The business did not expand to another store until the early 1970s, after Stack expanded his product line into general sports merchandise. When Richard Stack retired in 1984, his son Edward became the new chairman and led the company in a rapid expansion. As of 2015 there are 610 Dick's retail stores in 46 states.
