For first-level diagnostics and attempts at solving problems with a Trane system, it may be possible for Trane Comfort to solve a customer's issue without having to dispatch a repairman. Trane Comfort offers several suggestions on how to resolve common issues with Trane HVAC products.
It is not required in all cases to have a Trane Comfort specialist come to a customer's home to diagnose HVAC problems. For example, for individuals with cooling problems, Trane first recommends checking the circuit breaker, checking the thermostat settings, and turning off the thermostat to attempt to reset the system. For problems with heat, Trane recommends first checking the gas valves, checking the power supply to the thermostat and heating unit, and checking the circuit breaker. For airflow problems, Trane recommends first replacing dirty filters, checking for signs of water below the coil enclosure and turning off the thermostat temporarily to defrost any frozen areas.
