Black + Decker sells replacement batteries for both its cordless power tools and outdoor cordless tools on its website Blackanddecker.com. Amazon.com, Sears and The Home Depot also sell Black + Decker replacement batteries as of 2015. Some of the stores may not stock the all the batteries.
Cordless rechargeable tools are more portable than corded tools that need to be connected to power sockets. However, batteries can take hours to charge, and it is useful sometimes to have a spare charged battery on hand for long jobs. Over time, batteries lose the amount of charge they can hold.
Check, if possible, the model number of the current battery before buying a replacement. Black + Decker batteries vary in shape, type of battery and voltage. Using the wrong type of battery or an unapproved battery could damage the tool or invalidate any manufacturer's warranty.
S. Duncan Black and Alonso G. Decker founded Black + Decker in 1910 and invented the portable electric drill with a trigger switch in 1917. The company continues to make power tools such as lawnmowers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, screwdrivers and drills.
