Pictures of bed bugs are available on both WebMD and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency website. The EPA also lists bugs that could sometimes be mistaken for bed bugs.
Bed bugs are flat, small, wingless insects that feed on the blood of animals or people. Their coloring can range between white and brown, and their bodies are oval-shaped. If a person finds a bedbug in his house, the first thing he should do is take off all possibly infested bedding and clothing, wash it in hot water, and dry it on the hottest setting. If he is unsure about further treatment, he should call an exterminator.
