To get rid of mice in your home permanently, trap them or bait and poison them. At the same time, take precautions to prevent further infestation in your home.
The key to successfully getting rid of a mouse infestation using traps is to lay out several traps at a time, and to empty them regularly. Since mice breed quickly, the goal is to catch as many mice as possible in a short amount of time.
There are three main types of mouse traps. Electronic traps deliver an electric shock to the mouse, which kills it instantly. Snap traps are typically cheaper and easier to reuse, but are less humane. There are also mouse traps available that do not kill the mice. If you use bait to poison the mice in your home, set the bait containers in places where children or pets cannot reach them.
To prevent new mice infestations, seal any cracks or holes in your home where mice can enter from outside. Keep your home clean, wiping down surfaces and cleaning out cabinets to get rid of food debris that attracts pests. Store food in sealed containers and do not leave food dishes lying around in the open.
