Local Government websites normally contain information about waste collection services and may provide a facility where you can enter your address to view the schedule for your area. Locate your city's website by visiting StateLocalGov.net, selecting your state from the list under Local State Government, and clicking on your county.
Once you have located your city, click on the link to navigate to the city's local government website. Information about trash, garbage or waste collection services is normally located under Services, Public Works, or Environment, or may be found within a separate link to the utility service provider. If you can't find the information you need, enter Garbage, Waste or Trash Collection in the site's main search box. Alternatively, select Contact Us to view a list of departmental telephone numbers and call the general enquiries line or the number given for the public works department.
Many cities have a separate recycling collection service for waste items such as cardboard, paper, bottles and cans. Collection services may be delayed during holiday periods and some cities offer special collection services for Christmas trees and for additional waste accumulated by residents during spring clean ups. Some cities also offer residents a collection service for bulky items such as unwanted sofas and mattresses.
