Make your own leather conditioner by combining olive oil, vinegar and essential oil in a spray bottle. Shake up the mix, and use it on leather furniture, jackets or car seats.
- Purchase your supplies
Go to the store and pick up a bottle of olive oil, regular vinegar, measuring cups and a spray bottle. Additionally, purchase your choice of essential oil to counteract the smell of the vinegar. Eucalyptus oil is one option, but keep in mind that the vinegar smell does not last long.
- Check the material
Check the material to ensure that it is leather. This recipe does not work on suede.
- Mix the ingredients
Measure out 1/4 cup olive oil and a 1/2 cup vinegar in the spray bottle.
- Shake the bottle
Place the lid on the bottle and shake well until the olive oil and vinegar mix completely.
- Add the essential oil
Remove the lid and place a few drops of essential oil in the olive oil and vinegar mix, then replace the lid and shake again.
- Use the mix
Spray the mix on leather items, and rub it in with a clean cotton cloth. Make sure that the mix does not sit on the item.
