Where Can You Locate the Model Number on Maytag Washing Machines?
The model numbers on top load Maytag washing machines are found on the back behind the control panel. Users can look inside the washer lid on the right bottom corner and on the back on the left side of the base frame.
Front load models sometimes have their numbers on the top of the door jam or inside the door, on the bottom. Maytag all-in-one mini washer/dryer combinations have the numbers on the top of the cabinet or on the left or right inside rear corners of the dryer section.
The model numbers are all on stickers, which also include the Maytag serial numbers. The latter are useful for finding out the manufacturing date of a machine. For example, if the first letter in the serial number is “B,” then the machine was made in 2014. If the letter to the right of that “B” is an “A,” then the machine was made in January. The year letter codes change every 12 years, but the monthly codes stay the same.
This information, along with the model number, comes in handy when searching for replacement parts. If a Maytag washer is included in an insurance claim, then the exact date of manufacture is also needed.
