To install glue-on faux tin ceiling tiles, clean the ceiling, mark guidelines, brush the sheets with adhesive, wait 20 minutes, and press the sheets into place. This one-day project requires a ladder, a paint brush, adhesive, a straightedge, a pencil, a measuring tape, rags, water, rubbing alcohol and a bucket.Continue Reading
Mix equal parts of water and rubbing alcohol in a bucket. Dip a clean rag into the solution, wring it out, and wipe the ceiling with it. Re-moisten the rag as needed.
Turn the glue-on sheets upside down, and paint their edges with contact cement. Remember to apply adhesive to raised borders within the sheets. Wait about 20 minutes for the solvent to evaporate.
Draw a pencil line down the middle of the ceiling using a measuring tape to ensure precise placement. Return to the middle of that line, and then draw a second line perpendicular to the first. The intersection of the two lines is the center of the ceiling.
Place the first sheet at one of the 90-degree angles at the juncture of the ceiling markings. Press the sheet firmly into place. When you place subsequent sheets, overlap their edges with those of the previous sheet.
