Whirlpool Duet and other stackable washers and dryers can be compared on Consumer Reports. As of 2015, the Whirlpool Duet is considered one of the top-performing, quietest washer and dryer duos.
The Whirlpool Duet front-loader washer and dryer are viewed as top-notch stackable machines due to their effective washing and drying tests, water efficiency, size capacity and low noise pollution. Both machines can hold plenty of clothing and can sit side-by-side or be stacked one on top of the other. The washer has 13 wash cycles for different types of clothing and can wash the most soiled clothing in 75 minutes. The machines are also equipped with Wi-Fi, so that they can be controlled remotely. The downside is that the machines are on the pricier side.
Some other washer and dryer sets were rated more favorably than the Whirlpool Duet, including the Kenmore Elite, LG duos, Maytag Maxima and Samsung sets. The Kenmore Elite washer and dryer, although just a couple of inches wider than the others in the top-rated group, can be stacked to save space and can also hold jumbo loads of laundry. The stackable Samsung washer and dryer have a SuperSpeed option to cut down on washing time.
