A washing machine diagram and detailed information about each working part is available at Bright Hub Engineering. HomeTips.com also hosts a washing machine diagram and basic information about how machines function.
Washing machines vary from model to model, but most are equipped with water inlet control valves to control the amount of water that enters and water pumps to circulate the water. The internal tub holds the water and clothing, and the external tub covers and supports the internal tub. The motor moves the agitator or rotating disc, which in turn moves the water through the laundry. The water and drain hoses move water in and out of the machine, and the lid covers the tub.
