To build a breakfast nook, select a suitable design, and choose the materials to be used. Take accurate measurements for the table, benches and backing; construct the frame, surface and backs accordingly; and add the upholstery and other accessories as desired.
To choose a suitable design for the breakfast nook, go through several plans, and select one that best fits the space available. Alternatively, customize the shape, size and color of the nook based on the space available and room decor. Determine the type of wood to be used, and consider using medium-density fiberboards for the bench surfaces.
To build the nook's table, benches and backing, measure the length, breadth and height of a comfortable table and chair that you use. Alternatively, use the dimensions given in a plan. Cut the wood as per the measurements to make the frame of the benches. Place the frame so the benches find a support every few feet. Use the fiberboard to connect the frame; to form its sides, front and back; and to make the backing.
To make the table, construct a pedestal for its base. Keep the pedestal width approximately one-third of the tabletop width. Sand the benches and tabletop, and apply a coat of paint of a suitable color or lacquer to finish it. Finally, upholster the seats or place cushions in interesting designs and colors. If desired, install lighting.
