Brands that manufacture compact upright freezers include Haier, SPT, Danby and Whynter. One of the compact upright freezer models that is built by Haier is the Space Save freezer series that has a 1.3 cubic feet capacity.
The appliance can hold up to 46 pounds of frozen food and includes such features as a full width slide-out shelf, adjustable thermostat control and reversible door design. As of March 2015, the Haier upright compact freezer can be purchased through Home Depot for $190, or at Lowe's for $199.
SPT designs a large variety of upright compact freezer models that range in price from around $160 to almost $240 dollars at Home Depot. The less expensive SPT freezer is 19.38 inches tall and features a 1.1 cubic foot capacity. The more expensive models are generally stainless steel, Energy Star approved and include a freestanding application with front leveling legs.
Danby also manufactures 4.2 cubic feet capacity compact freezers that are Energy Star compliant and a little over 36 inches tall. The appliance includes two quick-freeze shelves and a mechanical thermostat.
The compact upright freezers that are built by Whynter include the 1.1 cubic foot freezer with compressor cooling and a cylinder lock. The appliance stands 19.5 inches and weighs 42 pounds.
