General Electric produced the overall lowest-rated washers and dryers in a 2013 comparison of manufacturers performed by consumer advocacy website Consumer Reports. While Frigidaire dryers were not ranked in the comparison, the company's washers were the lowest overall scores in the comparison among all brands.
General Electric washers scored worse than their dryers in the Consumer Reports comparison, only edged out by Frigidaire washers for the bottom spot in the ratings. While some top-loading models from General Electric were rated well, overall models from the brand performed poorly. Even the highly-rated models have been reported to have a very high rate of repair incidents, reducing the rating for General Electric washers overall. Frigidaire washers performed poorly across the board in Consumer Report's tests and suffered from frequent repair problems as well.
General Electric dryers were tied for lowest in the review alongside Kenmore, Maytag and Whirlpool appliances. All four brands showed issues with inconsistent quality among their dryer lineups, with some models performing very well and others poorly. In contrast, Consumer Reports found dryers from top performing brands LG and Samsung consistently excellent. However, Kenmore and Maytag were tied for the top rank for washing machines, with LG and Samsung both rated lower on the list.
