Factory outlet stores often carry a manufacturer's full range of products, including those that retailers have chosen to not stock. Because outlets are often located near factories, the manufacturer often offers discounts due to lower transportation fees.
Another advantage of factory outlets is that they might offer "scratch and dent" appliances. If an appliance fails inspection for any reason, it generally isn't shipped to retailers. Factory outlets allow the manufacturer to recoup at least some of the expense of making the product. In some cases, appliances with only minor damage, which might not even be visible when the appliance is installed, are sold at a significant discount while retaining their full warranty.
