As of 2015, traditional Formica Laminate countertops come in over 100 colors and patterns, including almond, black graphite and antique white. Most colors come standard with a gloss or matte finish.
Most of the Formica Laminate options are patterned, but solid colors are available in several shades of white, beige and gray. Patterns include a variety of stone and wood-like looks as well as modern graphic patterns. Formica's website has a gallery that allows customers to peruse all of the color options and order free samples.
In addition to their original laminate, Formica offers solid surface countertops. Solid surface countertops are available in speckled patterns with options in a range of colors, including beige, gray and brown. Formica also offers 180fx, which features laminate countertops with true-to-scale granite patterns that look realistic.
The edges on laminate countertops are straight and square with brown seams. Formica now offers IdealEdge, so that laminate countertops can be finished with a matching rounded decorative edge that obscures the seams.
Laminate countertops are easy to maintain and relatively inexpensive when compared to other countertop options. Laminate is durable and lasts for years. It can withstand staining and scorching from hot items. Solid surface countertops are non-porous and repairable.
