Most professional installation packages also feature free maintenance calls because someone has to come remove the part of the gutter that needs to be fixed. While these gutter guards promise the convenience of never having to clean gutters, some self-install inserts don’t live up to their claims, states Consumer Reports. Most hardware stores also sell metal screens that cost about 50 cents per foot and can act as leaf guards for gutters.
